VERMONT:  State Police pranked with derogatory pig image on cruiser decals

The decal on the doors of about 30 Vermont State Police patrol car looks innocent enough on the

left, but a closer inspection on the right reveals the image of a pig on the side of the cow. Like

license plates, the decals are made by prison inmates, and the Department of Corrections is

looking into which inmate was responsible. In the meantime, new decals are being made to

replace the offending ones.

Spider-infested ship turned away from port

One of the many thousands of spiders discovered that literally overflowed from a

cargo of insulation and beams for housing units from the ship, the M.V. Altavia as

it was being off-loaded at Guam's major seaport.  The cargo was returned to the

ship and the ship was not allowed to dock again.  Authorities were concerned that

the spiders could cause environmental havoc on Guam's eco-system since they

are not indigenous to the island.

Republican forced to apologize for BP apology

Congressman Joe Barton of Texas apologized to BP chief Tony Hayward during

Thursday's hearings for what he termed a White House "shakedown."  He was

referring to the $20-billion disaster fund President Obama persuaded BP to pay

for.  Barton was forced to later apologize when leaders of his own party protested.

It comes as no suprise to know that Barton has been the biggest single recipient

of oil industry money in the House of Representatives since 1989.
