Cardinal John Foley, American spokesman for the Vatican, dies at 76

Cardinal John P. Foley, a former Philadelphia priest, rose to the highest levels of the
Roman Catholic Church, serving as chief of communications at the Vatican for more
than 20 years. He was appointed by Pope John Paul II and was most-well known for
his annual "play-by-play" of one of the world's most-watched telecasts, Midnight Mass
on Christmas Eve from the Vatican. Cardinal Foley, who had been suffering from
leukemia, retired from Vatican service in 2010, returning to Philadelphia. He was 76.

Prime Minister Angela Merkel and other officials welcomed Pope Benedict XVI Thursday
at Tegel Airport in Berlin as the head of the Roman Catholic Church began a state visit
to his homeland. Many lawmakers have vowed to boycott his speech to Parliament
because they say it violates the principle of the separation of church and state.
Thousands of protestors, citing sexual abuse by priests, a hot button issue in
Germany, have taken to the streets in protest against his visit.

Dale Richardson, pastor of the Freedom Free Will Baptist Church in Ladson, South Carolina.
He has been denied bond and is being held on charges that he kidnapped and raped 3 women
at gunpoint, two of them in a trailer in back of the church. His congregation refuses to believe
the accusations. Richardson was pastor at the church for about one year.

NETHERLANDS: Man builds full-size Noah's Ark

Shades of the movie, "Evan Almighty". A man in the Netherlands, Johan Huibers has
reconstructed what is believed to be a life-size replica of the Biblical boat. It's become
quite the tourist attaction. If the seas keep rising, which would be a particularly serious
problem in the Netherlands, then perhaps Johan's boat will one day find some utility.

CALIFORNIA: Stolen 780 year-old religious relic found

This 16 inch-high solid-gold case, sitting on a pedestal, contains a small bone from
Saint Anthony of Padua, the Patron Saint of the illiterate, the poor, and lost things.
The case and the relic within were stolen from St. Anthony's RC Church in Long
Beach, California on Monday, 06/13/11, the anniversary of St. Anthony's death in
1231. A 41 year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the theft.

The man who incorrectly predicted the "End Times" has reportedly suffered a stroke.
89 year-old Harold Camping is the head of Family Radio and he convinced
hundreds of thousands of followers that "The Rapture" would begin on May
21st with the world coming to an end in October.

a message on Facebook, doubting the existence of hell. He was supporting a
controversial book titled "Love Wins" by evangelical preacher, Rob Bell who
also questions the belief in hell as the place where billions of souls have been
dumped through the ages for all time and that heaven is only for a chosen few.

MICHIGAN: Woman recreates da Vinci's 'Last Supper' with laundry lint

The laundry lint Last Supper was created by Laura Bell of Roscommon
in Northern Michigan. It's 14 feet long and 4 feet high. She said it
took about 800 hours doing the laundry to get enough lint and
about 200 hours to create the mural.

Coptic Christians took to the streets in protest against a police action that
stopped the construction of a church in Giza. One person was killed, over

POPE: Pope: Condoms to stop AIDS may be OK

In a stunning reversal of Church policy, Pope Benedict XVI announced
Saturday 11/20/10 that some condom use may be morally justified in order to
stop the spread of AIDS. The Roman Catholic Church has traditionally
condemned the use of condoms, and Benedict has even previously
suggested that condom use was responsible for spreading the disease.

The Rev. Cedric Miller, Pastor of the Living Word Christian Fellowship Church in Neptune
Township, New Jersey confirmed a local newspaper report that he had a 3-way sexual
releationship involving his wife and a church assistant. Miller gained national attention
for telling his congregation that Facebook was "a portal to infidelity" and ordered
leaders in his church to cancel their Facebook accounts or resign.
