Pfizer reaches out to women after birth control recall

The world's largest drugmaker has recalled 14 lots of Lo/Ovral-28 and 14 lots of the
generic counterpart Norgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol. The recall sparked immediate
panicked exchanges on social media like Twitter.

Johnson & Johnson is recalling tubes of "pediatrician-recommended" Aveeno
Baby Lotion because lots of it have been found to contain "too much of a
naturally-occuring bacteria." Tubes affected have the lot # 0161LK.

A 2007 Kia Optima sedan, one of the manufacturer's cars being called back to fix a fault
with the driver's side air bag mechanism. Affected are 2006 to 2008 model year Optima

235,000 Mini Coopers called back due to potential fire risk

235,000 models of the Mini Cooper are being recalled to fix an electrical fault that
can lead to a fire, even while parked and unattended. Afffected are the Cooper S
and John Cooper Works (pictured) models, built between March 2006 and January
2011. The problem involves a computer board-operated turbocharger cooling
system that can produce a fire in the car's water pump.

Recalls tissue holder because it emits radiation

This metal holder, named "Dual Ridge," designed for personal sized boxes of tissue, is being
recalled by the home furnishings retailer nationwide because it has been found to emit low
levels of radiation. The company said the contamination was due to the presence of
Cobalt-60, a man-made substance used in medical and industrial applications.

FoMoCo calls back half-million minivans, SUVs


The 2 models that Ford is recalling include the Ford Freestar minivan on the left and its Mercury
badge counterpart, the Montery, made in 2004 & 2005...and the Ford Escape SUV on the right,
manufactured in 2001 & 2002. The minivans are being recalled to replace a torque converter
shaft that may fail, causing a loss of power. The SUVs are being recalled to replace a faulty
brake fluid cap that could leak and cause an engine compartment fire.

Issues recall for millions of bottles of Excedrin, NoDoz, Gas-X & Bufferin




The Swiss drug maker, Novartis has issued a giant recall of these 4 products and variations
of them because of possible cross-contamination. They may contain stray, broken or chipped
tablets from other Novartis products. In addition, Novartis has voluntarily closed down the plant
in Nebrask where the problem reportedly occured. The drug company said it will take a
$120 million charge against 4th quarter earnings related to the plant closing and recalls.

Calls back 4,873 Sonic subcompact cars in US, Canada

Recalls Fusion, Milan sedans

A 2010 model of the Ford Fusion. The company is recalling 128,000 Fusion and
Mercury Milan cars, model years 2010 & 2011 because the wheels can literally fall
off on those editions equipped with 17 inch steel wheels. The problem involves lug
nuts that can fracture, causing wheel separation.

SUBARU:
Stops sales of three 2012 models after customer complaints

A new 2012 Subaru Impreza, one of 3 models the car-maker has stopped selling
because of numerous customer complaints about braking. All 3,000 cars sold to
date have been recalled. The other 2 models affected are the Legacy and popular
Outback. 130 complaints have been registered so far.

TOYOTA:
Recalls about 550,000 vehicles worldwide over potential steering problem

Plagued since 2009 with repeated recalls and quality issues, Toyota has announced
yet another one, this time for 550,000 vehicles worldwide, the majority in the US. The
issue is a steering control module that could cause the belt running the power steering
unit to fly off, leaving the driver with sudden difficult steering. Affected vehicles include
older model Camry & Lexus cars, minivans and SUV's, from 2004-2006

FDA:
Steps up warnings about recalled contact lens

Cooper Vision, Inc. issued a recall of its Avaira Toric model contact lenses
two months ago, but the FDA issued a warning Friday that the firm did not
adequately publicize the recall of 600,000 lenses. The issue is possible
contaminants on the lenses that could potentially cause serious eye damage.
The FDA's Class One Warning, its most serious level recall advisory, says
if users present symptoms, they should seek immediate medical help.

VW recalls 160,000 Golfs, Jettas & Audi A3's for fuel leaks

98,000 dehumidifiers being called back for 2nd time; blamed for starting house fires

Dehumidifiers made by LG Electronics have been blamed for shorting out and causing
house fires. They are sold under the names "Goldstar" and "Comfort-Aire". It is the
2nd time since 2009 that the machines have been recalled for the same problem.

VW calls back 30,000 Jettas to fix tailpipes

A 2012 model VW Jetta coupe. 30,000 Jettas, model years 2011 & 2012 are being
recalled in the US to fix a tailpipe problem. Many stick out too far and the hot tips
of the tailpipes have reportedly burned people on the legs who get too close.

Another 185,000 pounds of Cargill ground turkey called back; risk of salmonella
Honda calls back 962,000 Fits, CR-Vs worldwide

A 2011 model Honda Fit. The company is calling back nearlly 1 million Fits and CR-Vs
to repair faulty power window switches on the driver's side that can short out and cause
a fire. The company is also recalling 26,000 CR-Z compact hybrids to repair faulty
engine control units.

GM calls back 16,000 Chevys & Buicks for sensor, power steering problems

A 2012 model Chevy Impala sedan. General Motors is recalling nearly 12,000
new Impalas to check for an improperly installed power steering hose. GM is
also calling back nearly 4300 new 2012 Buick LaCrosse models to reprogram
the electronic brake control module.

Honda calls back 2.5 million vehicles for transmission problems

A Honda 2008 model year Element. Honda is recalling Elements made between 2005 & 2008,
Accord sedans made between 2005 & 2010, and CR-V's made between 2007 & 2010, 2.5-million
vehicles in all. All models have a 4-cylinder engine. The problem involves a balky computerized
shifting mechanism that could result in serious damage to the transmission if the shift lever is
moved too quickly, say from forward to reverse during a rocking maneuver in deep snow. Honda
said it will re-program the on-board computer systems.

Chrysler calling back nearly 300,000 minivans

A 2008 model year Dodge Grand Caravan, one of 3 Chrysler minivan models built that year
being recalled. The others are the Chrysler Town and Country and Grand Voyager. The
problem is a possible heating and air conditioning leak that could compromise the front air
bag sensor, setting off the air bags unexpectedly.

Ford recalling 1.2 million light trucks over gas tank straps

A Ford F-150 pickup, model year 2000. The company is recalling 1.2 million of its light
pickups, including 1997 througth 2003 F-150's, 1997 through 1999 F-250's and some 2002
through 2003 Lincoln Blackwood pickups. The problem is a strap that holds the fuel tank
to the underside of the vehicle that may corrode and break, releasing the fuel tank.

Ford calls back sedans for fuel tank problems

The Ford Motor Co. is calling back some 3,000 2007 model 500 sedans.
The problem is a faulty weld between the fuel tank and the fuel filler neck
that could cause a leak of fuel.

Chrysler calls back 280,000 Ram pickups

A 2010 model Dodge Ram 2500 series pick-up truck, one of several model years being
recalled for a problem that could lead to a loss of steering. Other models include the 1500
and 3500 series and the model years include 2008 through 2011. Of the 280,000 being
recalled worldwide, 242,000 are in the United States.

TOYOTA:
Calling back 82,200 vehicles in US

A 2007 model year Lexus Hybrid. Toyota is calling back 82,200 hybrid vehices, affecting
2006 & 2007 models of both the Lexus and Highlander hybrid. The reason is a faulty
computer board that, if it failed, would slow down the vehicle or stop it. It's the latest in
a series of setbacks for the company which has repeately issued recalls begining in the
fall of 2009, as well as being adversely affected by the earthquake and tsunami this year.

More Tylenol Extra Strength pills recalled

Johnson & Johnson has issued yet another recall for one of its products,
Tylenol Extra Strength due to a musty smell. Since September of 2009,
J&J has issued recalls for 24 of its products, ranging from Tylenol and Motrin
to prescription medications, replacement hips and diabetes test strips.

Mazda calls back 409,000 cars

A 2008 Mazda 3, one of two models being recalled worldwide by Mazda, the other being
the Mazdaspeed 3. Both models affected are 2008 and 2009 editions. The problem is a
faulty windshield wiper motor assembly that could cause the wipers to fail. Mazda said
it first received reports of failures in 2009, but did not issue the recall until now.
Worldwide, 409,000 units are affected, 103,000 of them in the US.

Chrysler calls back over 11,000 new vehicles to fix steering columns

A 2011 model Chrysler Town and Country luxury minivan, one of 12 different
Chrysler products being recalled for steering problems affecting about half of
the company's entire 2011 production. The problem is a missing or incorrectly
installed pivot rivet on the steering column that could cause a loss of control.

Toyota announces voluntary recall of 106,000 Prius vehicles for steering issues

Affected in the recall are some 52,000 older editions of the high-mileage Prius sold
in the U.S., model years 1997 to 2003. The problem involves electric power
steering pinion shaft attachment nuts that have to be replaced.

Nissan recalls older models of Pathfinder, Infiniti QX4 SUVs

A 2001 model year Nissan Pathfinder. Nearly 271,000 Pathfinder and Infinity QX4's
are being recalled in North America to treat a rust condition. The model years affected
are 1996-2004 Pathfinders and 1997-2003 QX4's. The problem is related to corrosion
that could cause the front strut assembly to collapse, and a loss of steering.

Cucumbers recalled in 9 states over salmonella fears
Toyota calls back certain RAV4, Highlanders for faulty airbags

A Toyota 2008 model RAV4. The company is recalling 214,000 of its 2007-2008

to replace faulty airbag deployment sensors.

Johnson & Johnson recalls 57,000 bottles of epilepsy & migraine drug

Topamax 100 mg tabs. Johnson & Johnson is recalling 57,000 bottles of the drug
commonly used to control epilepsy and migraines. The recall was initiated after
complaints about a foul odor. Similar complaints led to J & J recalls of its Motrin,
Benadryl and Tylenol products last year.

A Ford F-150 Lariat, 2006 model. The company is expanding a recall announced
in February to fix faulty airbags when only 144,000 small trucks were called back
forl the same problem. The airbags may inflate when not expected. Model years

Blue Bird Co. recalls 3,900 school buses for potential fire hazard

The recalled school buses are Vision models with front-mounted engines. The model
years are 2004-2006. The problem is possible chafing of the starter cable against
a power steering hose, that could cause a short-circuit and a fire.

Mercedes calls back M-Class luxury SUVs for brake problems

Mercedes is recalling 137,000 M-Class luxury SUVs to repair a braking problem. The model
years are 2000-2004. The issue is the cruise control. It may not disengage as it's supposed
to do when the brake pedal is depressed, and cause a crash. Among the vehicles affected
is the so-called Popemobile, a specially modified M-Class with bullet-proof glass.

have been recalled because they contain a wheat allergen that is not

Honda recalls new minivans in US for window problem

2,800 Honda Odyessy Minivans are being recalled to replace or repair both the
front and passenger-side power windows. They can become stuck in an open
position, possibly shatter or drop into the door frame. Earlier in March, Honda
recalled 33,000 of the same model vehicles to repair a windshield wiper defect.

A 2010 Volkswagen Jetta. The company has recalled 71,000 similar vehicles,
models built between March 2010 and March 2011 for an electrical problem
that could cause the cars to stall.

Serious infection risk triggers new recall of medical wipes

All lots of poridone-iodine prep pads have been recalled because of bacterial contamination.
H&P Industries Inc., the parent company of the Triad Group of Hartland, Wisconsin issued
the recall because the pads can apparently cause several serious infections, including
necrotizing fasciitis, better known as flesh-eating disease. H&P is the same company
that recalled hundreds of millions of alcohol prep wipes in January because of
contamination with the rare bacillus cereus that can cause bloodstream infections.

Continental calls back over 391,000 tires put on Ford pickups

Nearly 400,000 Continental light truck tires have been recalled because
heavy loads can cause uneven wear and tread damage. Some 65,000

Salmonella prompts Skippy peanut butter recall

The recall affects 16.3 oz. jars of Skippy Reduced Fat Creamy Peanut Butter, and
Skippy Reduced Fat Super Chunk Peanut Butter. Unilever emphasizes that only
these two products are affected by the recall because of salmonella concerns.

Ford to call back nearly 150,000 F-150 pickups over air bags

A 2005 model Ford F-150 pickup. Under government pressure, the company
is recalling 2005 and 2006 year models for a fault that could deploy the air
bags without warning. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
said it knew of 238 cases of unexpected air bag deployment and that Ford
made production adjustments for succeeding model years.

The Alpha Omege Elite car seat manufactured by the Dorel Juvenile Group,
one of 8 models made between May 1, 2008 and April 2009 being recalled.

Ford recalls 425,000 Windstar minivans over steering

A 2000 model Windstar minivan. Ford is recalling 425,000 of the vehicles,
model years 1999 to 2003 because of a potential steering failure brought on
by subframe rust. The vehicles being recalled were sold in or are registered
in so-called "salt-belt states" where salt has been used on highways in winter
months, contributing to the corrosion problem. Ford said its subframe supplier
did not properly treat the metal parts to resist corrosion. Ford discontinued the
Windstar line after the 2003 model year.

faulty fuel pumps that could cause the vehicles to stall.

Jogging strollers with faulty hinge recalled

The recalled strollers are made by phil&teds of Colorado. Some 30,000 of the
upscale strollers are being called back in the U.S. and Canada because of a
faulty hinge mechanism. At least one fingertip amuptation was confirmed
among a number of injuries reported.

‘Toxic Waste’ candy recalled

An image of a wrapper of a candy marketed in several flavors under the banner of
"Toxic Waste." Made in Pakistan, it's marketed by an Indiana company named
Candy Dynamics. As if living up to its name, "Toxic Waste" candy has been
found to contain toxic levels of lead in it. The FDA says the lead levels are far
above what it allows and can be very harmful to children.

47 million packages of Tylenol, Sudafed recalled

Johnson & Johnson announced a massive recall Friday of 47 million
packages of Tylenol, Sudafed and Benadryl. The company said the
voluntary recall was initiated over concern about cleanliness at a
subsidiary manufacturer in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, which
has been the source of other possible contaminations in the past.

REPORT: Auto industry recalled 20 million vehicles in '10
Honda recalling 18,500 snowblowers due to fuel leak

The recalled blowers were sold at Honda dealerships between April 2005
and last month. Honda received 90 reports of fuel leaking from the fuel
tank joint location circled above. Owners are asked to call Honda at
888-888-3139 and check frame serial numbers against the recall.

Pfizer Pharmaceuticals has ordered the recall of another 38,000 bottles of
its blockbuster anti-cholesterol drug because of consumer complaints about
a musty odor. It's the third such recall of the product for the same problem
this year, bringing to over 360,000 bottles of the drug recalled so far.

Dollar Tree recalling Halloween lanterns

These battery-operated Halloween lanterns, being sold by Dollar Tree
stores as a safety item for children trick-or-treating at night, are being
recalled because they present a fire hazard.

Klement Beef Sticks have been recalled after some consumers
complained of hard pieces plastic and bits of glass in the meat.

For 70,000 Suzuki crossovers & 19,000 models of Mitsubishi
Nissan recalls 2.14 million cars worldwide

The Cube is one of a dozen different models produced by Nissan
being recalled for a faulty ignition relay problem. It is the 7th major
recall of vehicles produced by major car manufacturers worldwide
in recent months. The companies involved include Toyota, Nissan,
Honda, Hyundai, BMW, Mercedes and even Bentley.

BMW to recall 150,000 cars in the US

A 2007 BMW 335i series coupe, one of the models being recalled for faulty fuel pumps that
could cause a loss of power. Some 150,000 cars, manufactured between 2007 and 2010
of various series are involved in the recall, all for the same problem. It is the second
large-scale recall issued by BMW in a month. The previous recall involved 350,000
"high-end" luxury cars, including limosines for brake system leaks.

5 listeriosis deaths prompt Texas food factory closing, recall

The recall affects processed fresh fruit and vegetables sealed in packages by
the SanGar Produce and Processing plant in San Antonio, but an investigation
by health officials is centered on chopped celery. The Texas State Health
Department ordered the plant to be closed down while the investigation
proceeds. The food was distributed to hospitals, schools and restaurants.

Raisinets recalled over peanut allergy risk

Affected in the recall are so-called "fun-size" packages of the Nestle
product, packaged for Halloween. The company says they may pose
a peanut allergy risk. The packages being recalled were sold at Target,
Shop Right and Don Quixote stores nationwide.

Some 500,000 Honda models involved in recall alert

The 2007 model Honda Odyssey, one of several Honda models being
recalled. Included are 2005-2007 Odyssey minivans and 2005-2007
Acura RL sedans. Honda says it needs to fix brake fluid leaks.

Toyota recalls 1.53 million vehicles

Affected by the massive recall are models of the Toyota Avalon and
Lexus for brake fluid and fuel pump problems. This recall follows
closely on the heels of the company's recall of some 10 million
vehicles this year for "sticky" gas pedals.

4 deaths prompt Graco stroller recall

The two Graco models being recalled are, on the left, the MetroLIfe and on
the right, the Quattro Tour. The Consumer Product Safety Commission said
4 infants were strangled when they slid between the seat and the tray. The
strollers were made before 2007. Since then, manufacturers have voluntarily
redesigned their strollers to provide a wider opening between the seat and tray.

A Mercedes-Benz C class being assembled in Germany. Daimler-Benz

BMW recalls 200,000 large engine luxury vehicles

Series 6 cars on the assembly line in Germany. BMW is recalling 350,000
so-called "big engine" vehicles worldwide (200,000 in the U.S.) They
include series 5,6 and 7 models with V-8 or V-12 engines. The problem?
Small leaks reported in the power-assisted braking systems. Included
in the recall are 5,800 Rolls Royce limos built in Britain.

The recall affects 2011 model year Sonatas and was ordered by the U.S.
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for a defect that could
cause "a loss of, or reduced steering."
